Gridphase, produced by Grid Instruments, is a  compact tool for identifying phases within three-phase electrical systems. The handheld devices give technicians real-time insight into network loads, providing essential data for efficient and reliable grid operations. In an industry where precision and durability are paramount, they needed a robust, user-friendly digital platform to support device management, data collection, and real-time network monitoring.


Our team took over the entire full-stack development of both mobile and web applications, leveraging our expertise in high-tech, technical projects to create a solution that would meet the demands of Grid Instruments’ clients.

Solution: Mobile and Web Application for Phase Identification


Grid Instruments required a sophisticated application that would integrate seamlessly with their handheld devices, allowing technicians to manage devices, control settings, and monitor electrical loads remotely. We assumed responsibility for full-stack development, from designing the app architecture to implementing Bluetooth connectivity, phase calculation, and offline data handling.

Key features of the solution include:


  • Device and Reference Management: Technicians can track reference devices connected to transformers and organize angle zones for grouped network sections directly from the web app, enabling centralized management of grid components.

  • Real-Time Device Control: The web application provides remote control over connected devices, allowing technicians to restart or monitor reference points in real-time. Firmware updates can be deployed seamlessly to all devices, ensuring that the system remains up-to-date.

  • Grid Load Monitoring: The application provides a full view of grid load for each electricity consumer, allowing users to visualize and analyze network performance metrics, aiding in informed decision-making about installations and network distribution to improve grid reliability.

Mobile App Features

The mobile app is optimized for field technicians, offering essential tools to capture and utilize data directly from the grid:

  • Bluetooth Device Connection: The app connects seamlessly with Grid Instruments’ handheld phase identifier devices via Bluetooth, enabling quick data transfer and real-time analysis.

  • GPS Tracking and Data Logging: Technicians can geotag measurements using GPS, storing location data for each network check. 

  • Accessing Load Information: Each electrical panel is marked with a QR code provided by the electrical provider. By simply scanning the code, field technicians can instantly access relevant load information on the platform.

  • Offline Mode: The app offers offline data storage, allowing technicians to save measurements without needing an internet connection and pair the measurement later when connectivity is available.

  • Network Load Insights: Real-time and historical data on load distribution at specific locations help technicians assess phase usage and make informed adjustments to maintain network stability.
